As we reported yesterday, no way is Villanova coach leaving for the New York Knicks.

Now comes Wright Whisper Dana O’Neil of The Athletic:

“Let’s quash this stuff before it gets started: source told me Jay Wright is not going anywhere. Not to the Knicks. Not to the Sixers. Not to Oz. His house is for sale. He’s not.”

The Knicks are expected to introduce Leon Rose as their new president of basketball operations soon. Rose, a former agent with CAA, is said to be interested in at least interviewing Jeff Van Gundy and Tom Thibodeau for the open head coaching position.

Naming Mike Miller the full-time head coach could be in the cards as well, but most NBA folks expect Rose to conduct a thorough coaching search. The Knicks will once again miss the playoffs this season. Under owner James Dolan, the Knickerbockers have been a walking disaster for years. After all, any time a franchise fires a head coach and president in the same season, that just screams dysfunction.

The Knicks, of course, fired coach David Fizdale earlier in the season and then recently reassigned Steve Mills.

New York hasn’t made the playoffs since 2013. The Knicks are hoping Rose’s connections with players and coaches will help them become a winner again.
