WOW! THINGS ARE LOOKING UP FOR EAGLES’ WR NELSON AGHOLOR!

By Peter Gleason

Nelson Agholor made his case last night for at least a spot on the Eagles’ 2017 roster!

The fans at the Linc booed him when he was introduced and again when he dropped a Carson Wentz pass in the first quarter.

But he stepped up to 2015 No. 1 draft choice status later in the game when he delivered a much-needed touchdown to increase the Eagles lead. He described what the play meant to him and how it highlighted the team’s mindset of continuing to get better.

“It meant a lot,” Agholor said at his locker after the game. “Anything I can do to help us win football games. It’s all about showing that fight and trying to grow every day. I know that’s what I have been trying to do and I know that’s what this team is trying to do. We go into practice and we grind and we just want to get better.”

With the ball coming his way, there was only one thing that he thought about.

“I just kept tracking it,” Agholor said with a smile. “It was one of those where you get behind the defense and Carson [Wentz] gave me a good opportunity and I just kept tracking it.”

The 40-yard touchdown was the first explosive play (25 yards or more) for the Eagles in three weeks. According to CSN Philly’s Reuben Frank, Agholor’s touchdown was the longest touchdown by an Eagles receiver since Jordan Matthews’ 78-yard reception against the Cardinals last season.

Wentz hung in the pocket as Agholor cleared the middle of the field before making the throw. He said the moment was good for both the offense and Agholor.

“We’ve been lacking that big play touchdown,” Wentz said after the game. “For us as an offense it was huge. For him personally, it was huge. Agholor just had to get over top of that guy and he did a really good job with that. It’s definitely something that we can build on.”
