The Eagles’ party line is that with Nate Sudfeld out with a broken wrist, they are cool with Cody Kessler as their back-up to starting quarterback Carson Wentz.

But what if they waffle?

What if they realize that they need a tested NFL quarterback?

The obvious is Kryptonite Colin Kaepernick, who has essentially been blackballed by the NFL because of the phony controversy he created when he took a knee back in 2016 during the national anthem when he was a starter for the San Franciscon 49ers.

Owner Jeffrey Lurie is one of the most progressive owners in the NFL and likely wouldn’t have an issue with bringing in Kaepernick.

Kaepernick might be a distraction as the team signing him would be a national story and extend outside of just sports.

After three years out of the NFL, however, there is an argument to be made that even though he is talented, he might have been out of the game too long to be a realistic option at backup.

However, the Eagles took a shot with Michael Vick, even though dog owners pitched a fit.

Why not Kaep?
