IS WIP BLOWHARD JOSH INNES ON THE WAY OUT THE DOOR?

By Sarah Berkowitz

It was just a matter of time for Josh Innes.

The arrogant Philly-sports-know-nothing came to 94 WIP less than a year ago from the sticks and immediately created tsunami-like waves at the failing sports talk radio outpost.

First Philly fave Anthony Gargano left for far greener pastures at 97.5 The Fanatic. Then Rob Ellis got the boot.

Now it seems that Innes’ on-air 1-6 p.m. partner Tony Bruno has had enough of working with the blowhard.

A well-placed source has confirmed to CrossingBroad that recent events have turned a rift between Bruno and Innes into a crisis:

The details are murky, but the gist is that Bruno, a longtime radio man who has always made it a point to treat listeners and callers with respect*, was put off by Innes’ constant badgering and trolling of his own audience– a conclusion that is obvious to just about anyone listening. Things may have come to a head a couple of weeks ago when Innes made fun of a caller who was clearly under the influence and had an admitted coke problem. By the end of the call, Tony, clearly disgusted with Josh’s antics, was encouraging the caller to take care of himself.

Bruno, a Philly native who has labored forever in the fields of sports talk radio here and around the country, has been off the past few days.

“I do not know. He’s off today, I guess.” Innes told a caller, obviously a bit surprised by the question. “Simply put, that’s what I was told.”

Reluctant to speak about the situation on air, Innes did say he hasn’t spoken to Bruno in a couple of days and told the caller, “as far as I know, Tony’s supposed to be back.

“If there is something to know, I will tell you there is something to know,” Innes said.
