The MLB trade deadline is approaching quickly — July 30, just nine days away.

And the Phillies expect to be a buyer, as Ken Rosenthal believes on The Athletic:

The Mets lead the Phillies by 2 1/2 games, the Braves by 3 1/2, the Nationals by 5.

Mind you, the Phillies are the only one of those clubs above .500, and their playoff odds have increased to 40.1 percent, compared to 7.7 percent for the Braves and 3.3 percent for the Nationals.

Still, it’s important to consider how each of those team’s top baseball executives is wired.

The Phillies’ Dave Dombrowski is the photo you’d find next to the dictionary definition of “win-now exec.”
