Phils outfielder Bryce Harper said today when he returned to Phils camp that he’s not sure if he will play right field this season amid his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
The 30-year-old said he will know more about his timeline for returning to Philadelphia’s lineup following the today’s physical.
Harper was cleared to take dry swings in February and is expected to be the Phillies designated hitter when he returns to the field.
He’s only about 3 1/2 months removed from his Nov. 23 Tommy John Surgery. While there is no return timeline yet, he’ll still be at least six weeks away from being physically ready to hit in a game on Opening Day. And he seems to understand that.
“We’re not going to rush,” Harper said today.
