Another possibility is about to open up for fired Eagles coach Chip Kelly.
Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot is reporting that the Browns are planning to fire head coach Mike Pettine and general manager Ray Farmer—as soon as tonight.
Team owner Jimmy Haslam said in August that he’d keep Pettine, who hails from the Philly suburbs of Bucks County and Farmer regardless of the team’s on-field performance this season, but that seems not to be the case.
Cabot is reporting Haslam is already lining up replacements for the two; that’s smart, because the last Browns coaching search didn’t go so well. Cabot also notes the last four Browns head coaches were fired after season-ending losses to the rival Steelers; Cleveland hosts Pittsburgh today at 1pm Eastern time.
