WHY JOHNSON AND DESAI ARE EAGLES COORDINATOR UPGRADES!

By Art Beitchman

Eagles brass has been very busy the last week heading into the NFL combine in Indianapolis to grade out prospects going into the draft next month.

And replacing coordinators on both sides of the ball.

They did both.

Promoting Brian Johnson from QB coach to offensive coordinator to replace Shane Steichen, who took over as head coach in Indy, was a wise choice after Jalen Hurts breakout season in which the Birds averaged nearly 30 points per game.

Johnson should have similar success in the new and important step up.

The 36-year-old Johnson has known Hurts since Hurts was 4 years old and Johnson was being coached by Hurts’ father, Averion, in high school in Texas.

They also hired Sean Desai as the new DC as Jonathan Gannon became the Cardinals head coach after the Super Bowl.

Desai has had stops with the Bears and Seahawks the past few seasons with success, as the Birds look to solidify a defense that has given up too many big plays, such as the ones in Super Bowl 57.
