WHY EAGLES SHOULD RE-SIGN FREE AGENT NOLAN CARROLL

By Annie Ross

What will new Eagles’ defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz decide to do with free agent Nolan Carroll?

Coming off a broken ankle suffered in the Thanksgiving Day loss in Detroit, Carroll would not require a huge contract.

Before the injury he played pretty well as an all-around cornerback who showed excellent run support, had two interceptions — one off Eli Manning and the other off Cam Newton — and had a team-high 15 pass defenses despite missing the final five games of the season.

In 2014, his first season with the Eagles, the former Miami Dolphin showed enough versatility that he was used in the nickel as a slot corner, in the dime as an extra linebacker and in one game actually lined up wide as a defensive end.
