WHY DOES SIRIANNI ONLY HIRE ASSISTANTS WHO LOOK LIKE HIM?

By Lewis Gould

We have mentioned Brian Johnson as a prospective new Eagles offensive coordinator.

He’s been the quarterbacks coach, and, let’s face it, the Eagles have a semi-tradition of elevating QB coaches.

In fact, Andy Reid was the Packers QB coach when Jeff Lurie hired him as head coach in 1999.

That turned out pretty well.

But Johnson has a disadvantage.

He does not look like head man Nick Sirianni.

Seriously, can anyone besides their wives and kids tell the difference between the departed Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon??

Kevin Patullo has the look.

The Eagles’ passing game coordinator is a close confidant of Sirianni.

Patullo is a major part of putting the game plan together and is a key figure in Sirianni’s situational football emphasis.

When Sirianni had COVID-19 late in the 2021 season, he named Patullo as the acting head coach.

Patullo, 41, has worked for six NFL teams and has been a quarterbacks and wide receivers coach.
