WATSON’S CASE GOES TO GRAND JURY: ARE EAGLES STILL INTERESTED?

By Melody Miller

It has been rumored all offseason that the Eagles would jump at the chance to dump QB Jalen Hurts and trade for Texans bad boy Deshaun Watson.

And no one in the Birds front office has denied.

Not owner Jeff Lurie or GM Howie Roseman.

Now FOX Houston’s Mark Berman reports a Harris County grand jury will be convened to determine if there’s sufficient evidence to bring criminal charges against Watson.

Watson, who’s facing 22 civil lawsuits, also has 10 criminal complaints against him.

It’s a potential turning point in the legal cycle, as a decision not to charge Watson would suggest doubts in the allegations.

If indicted on felony charges, Watson will likely be placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, giving the Texans a roster exemption while the case plays out.

Watson trade rumors have all but disappeared as teams wait out the criminal side of his legal situation.
