Kyle Schwarber launched his 44th homer of the year in the victory over St. Louis.
44 homers with a .197 average.
The highest homer total ever for a player with a sub-.200 average was Joey Gallo’s 38 in 2021. Before that, it was Mark Reynolds with 32 in 2021.
Schwarber could also become the first player ever with 100 RBI and a sub-.200 average, as he’s at 97 right now.
Still, he’d probably just as soon finish above the Mendoza Line.
