WATCH PHILLIES HERRERA’S JACK EXTEND ON-BASE STREAK TO 40!

Herrera hit a first-inning homer off Mets left-hander Steven Matz, extending his on-base streak on the second pitch he saw. The 40-game streak — which dates to Sept. 27, 2017 — tied Herrera for the seventh longest in Phillies history. Willie Montanez reached base safely in 40 consecutive games during the 1974 season. Mike Schmidt owns the longest on-base streak in franchise history at 56 games from 1981-82:
