WATCH PHILLIES BRASS, OLD AND NEW, AVOID TALK OF AMARO FIRING

Speaking at Andy MacPhail’s introductory press conference, current team president Pat Gillick said no decision has been made on the future of general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.

“Andy is going to use this period to know every area of the company,” Gillick said. “He came here without any preconceived notions, and will take the time to take everything in and evaluate every part of this company.”

Amaro was hired by the Phillies as general manager in 2009, but has been in the team’s front office since 1998.

“I am not coming in with any preconceived notions,” MacPhail said when asked about any potential changes. “It is way too early to talk about personnel decisions.”
