WATCH CRAIG KIMBREL’S SHAKY BUT SUSTAINABLE PHILS SAVE!

By Molly Dolan

Craig Kimbrel allowed one run in the ninth inning, but managed to hang on against the Cubs for his fifth save of the season.

Kimbrel got the call to protect a two-run lead and struck out Seiya Suzuki and Mike Tauchman before coughing up a solo homer to Christopher Morel.

He made things interesting by issuing a two-out walk to Trey Mancini, but retired pinch-hitter Patrick Wisdom to extinguish any hope of a comeback.

The 34-year-old veteran stopper will continue to serve as Philadelphia’s closer until hard-throwing lefty José Alvarado (elbow) is ready to return from injury.
