HEXTALL VOTE OF SHAKINESS: ‘AT THIS POINT’ BERUBE IS FLYERS’ COACH

By Michael McCarthy

Wow!

That sure wasn’t a vote of confidence.

In fact, Flyers general manager Ron Hextall (photo above) issued a vote of shakiness to whether or not Craig Berube will return as Flyers coach.

Hextall addressed the media during a 2:00 p.m. press conference today, announcing that “no decision” has been made regarding Berube.

“At this point he’s our head coach and if something changes I’ll let you guys know,” Hextall said. “At this point, the process going on, we’re going to evaluate everything as I said. At this point, a decision hasn’t been made.”

Hextall was asked if he’s waiting for potential replacement candidates for Berube to become available.

“No, this is singularly in itself,” Hextall said. “There’s no waiting around to see if someone comes available or what else is out there. No, not part of the equation.

“I’m going to be methodical,” he continued. “I want to make the right decision. I’m not going to make a decision to appease people or to follow along what is supposed to be done. I’m gonna do everything I can to be—to do the due diligence that is appropriate to make the decision. And once I get there, then we’ll let people know. I’m not going to make a hasty decision and look back and regret it.”
