VILLANOVA THUMPS DELAWARE 28-7; HENS’ POSTSEASON HOPES ALL BUT GONE!

By Harry Allison

Villanova beat Delaware 28-7 at a rainy Villanova Stadium, likely dealing Delaware’s postseason hopes a fatal blow.

Aaron Forbes gained 140 yards on just 13 carries for Villanova.

The Wildcats scored two touchdowns in the game’s first seven minutes, then quickly clobbered Delaware’s comeback bid with two more in the initial eight minutes of the third quarter.

It was Villanova’s sixth straight win and 11th in the last 12 games over Delaware. Villanova commands the series 29-21-1.

Delaware (7-4 overall, 5-3 Colonial Athletic Association) seemed primed to end its frustration against Villanova and nail down an FCS Tournament berth with a victory.

Villanova (5-6, 3-5) ended a four-game losing streak.
