VILLANOVA HOSTING YOUNG AND TOUGH MARQUETTE AT THE PAVILION!

By Barbara Harrison

It’s bitter cold on the Main Line and in the rest of the Philly region today, but it will red hot tonight at the Pavilion when Villanova hosts Big East rival Marquette:

Marquette (12-4) at No. 7 Villanova (14-2), FS1, 8:30 p.m. ET

This is shaping up to be one of those years in the Big East that defies predictability.

Only one team remains unscathed in conference play less than two weeks into the league schedule. The Wildcats look to remain on top of the table, but the Golden Eagles will be trying for their second road upset of a top-10 team in a little more than a week.

Villanova is playing like the veteran squad it is, with seniors like G Ryan Arcidiacono (above) and F Daniel Ochefu setting the tone.

The Golden Eagles, whose starting lineup usually features three freshmen, have struggled at times. They dropped an early home contest to Ohio Valley favorite Belmont and lost their Big East home opener to Seton Hall by 20 points.

But they earned a huge 65-64 victory at Providence last Tuesday, thanks to a clinching block by one of those key freshmen, Henry Ellenson.
