TURNER AND HARPER MAKE PHILS CONTENDERS FOR YEARS TO COME!

By Art Beitchman

The Phillies are coming off a season just two games short of winning the World Series, and they open the 2023 season Thursday against the Texas Rangers on the road with big hopes of getting back to the Fall Classic.

Signing arguably the best free agent on the market in SS Trea Turner, the Phils have improved the lineup with a solid run producer at the top of the batting order.

He hits for average, power, and steals bases.

And Turner will be in red pinstripes the rest of his career, thanks to an 11-year deal worth $300 million.

Turner will be 30 years old this June, giving him and Bryce Harper prime years to win for the Phillies.

Other additions to the bullpen, bench, and starting rotation make the Phillies a contender now and for years to come.
