Spencer Howard and Alec Bohm (above) have spent the past two weeks at Citizens Bank Park as part of the Phillies camp workouts.

Both are likely to join the Phillies at some point during the 60-game season. But for however long fans are not allowed in stadiums, the family and friends of first-time call-ups won’t get to enjoy the special in-person experience of a major-league debut.

“It’s definitely going to be something else,” Howard said of pitching in empty ballparks this season. “Maybe the crowd noise will help and I can try to pretend that some of the crowd noise is my family, but other than that, I don’t know. I think it’s going to be crazy.”
