Tonight’s the night Sixers fans have been waiting for ever since Josh Harris and his band of billionaires plucked the team off the scrap heap almost five years ago.

The Sixers won the draft lottery last month, allowing them to pick first overall in tonight’s NBA draft (ESPN, 7 pm). And after working out for the club this week, 19-year-old Ben Simmons (above) was informed he would be the prize at No. 1!

Simmons brings to the table a combination of strength and grace for a big guy with a great handle looking to jump-start this franchise back to prominence in the Association.

Welcome to Philadelphia, Ben Simmons!

The Sixers will also pick at 24, and 26. It’s been rumored for weeks they could bundle both of these late round 1st-rounders and move up in the teens.

Kentucky point guard Tyler Ulis has worked out for the Sixers this week and might be worth a shot.

Florida State shooting guard Malik Beasley is on the Sixers radar with pick 24. Small forward Taurean Prince out of Baylor is another prospect they could use with one of those picks.
