TEMPLE HOLDS OFF BULLDOG YALIES 83-77

By Sam Bush

Alani Moore II scored a career-high 26, Daniel Dingle added 19 and Temple held off Yale 83-77 last night at the Liacouris Center.

The Owls (7-4) started hot from deep and finished strong at the line to defeat the Bulldogs (6-5) despite an off-night from leading scorer Obi Enechionyia. Enechionyia, who averages 17.6 points a game, went 1 of 11 from the field and finished with three points but grabbed 10 rebounds.

Moore had 15 points and Temple was 6 of 15 behind the arc in the first half — but just 11 of 35 overall — in building a 35-28 lead.

Dingle hit back-to-back treys and the Owls led by 12 early in the second half but Jordan Bruner made back-to-back buckets to cap an 8-0 burst as Yale closed within 48-43. Temple kept surging and Yale kept responding before the Owls made 11 of 12 free throws in the final 1:17.

Temple, 11 of 31 from deep, finished 28 of 30 from the line, outscoring Yale by a dozen.

Sam Downey, Miye Oni and Jordan Bruner had 15 points apiece for Yale with Downey adding a career-high 17 boards — nine on the offensive end — for his first double-double.
