SWEET REVENGE FOR PATS’ GRONK IN AFC TITLE GAME

By Harry Allison

The last time the New England Patriots were in Denver, eight weeks ago, Pats tight end Rob Gronkowski absorbed a low hit from safety Darian Stewart. He writhed in pain on the ground and was carted off the field. In the days that followed, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suggested that such low hits should be illegal.

Asked about the Broncos’ tendency to hit him low, and cornerback Chris Harris’s comment this week confirming that strategy, Gronkowski was less combative.

“It’s part of the game,” he said Thursday. “I’ve been seeing it all year, I’ve been seeing it my whole career. Just got to get low, get my shoulder down, protect the ball. Just protect myself in any way when I see a lot of guys coming.”
