The Suns have informed Chris Paul that he will be waived, according to a tweet from Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.
Less than a month after Haynes reported that the Suns were likely to guarantee CP3’s contract, Paul has become a free agent.
Only $15.8 million of his $30.8 million contract was guaranteed, so the Suns opted to clear cap space to build around Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.
Paul will have a chance to sign with a contender to chase the ring that has eluded him until this point of his career. Haynes added that Paul plans to play “several more years” and is “eager to help a team contend for a championship”.
Paul has been a great player for years, although his play has been affected by age and injury.
Might be a perfect pick-up for the Sixers on a one-year deal.
