PHILS OFFENSE NEEDS JUMP-START MONIAK’S RETURN PROVIDES!

By Art Beitchman

Even after the Phillies’ dramatic extra innings win over the Dodgers yesterday, the NL East standings has them 8 games back of the Mets at 19-22.

That’s not what most observers projected from this group before opening day.

Why the underachieving results from this group so far?

The Phils have been unable to generate any kind of consistent offense so far, and there has continued to be a void in center field.

It looks as though top draft choice Mickey Moniack coming off a fractured hand is on the mend, getting games in AA Clearwater. He’ll get more work in this week at Triple A Lehigh Valley.

The Phillies desperately need some pop in a lineup that’s been having trouble producing runs the last month.

With the weather warming up and summer approaching there’s still time to turn this season around and start pushing for the playoff spot everyone had them pegged to get.
