STUBBS FILLS IN NICELY FOR JT AS PHILS MACHINE ROLLS ON, WATCH!

By Art Beitchman

The Phillies amazing season hit a bit of a snag with news that their All World catcher JT Realmuto will be out of action at least a month due to knee surgery.

He will have the procedure done today.

President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski stated at least one month’s timetable for a possible return.

They put JT on the 10-day injured list to recover from surgery on the cartilage in his right knee.

Garrett Stubbs was in the lineup at catcher in the series opener, and the Phillies recalled catcher Rafael Marchán from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill Realmuto’s spot on the roster.

They still went into Boston and beat the Red Sox behind Zack Wheeler’s 8th win of the year 4-1.

Slugger Kyle Schwarber swatted 2 home runs, backup Stubbs (watch him gun down a runner trying to steal) filled in nicely and will get most of the work before Realmuto returns.

The win put them up 10 games over the 2nd place Braves in the NL East.

Having that big cushion should soften the loss of their starting catcher the next month.
