“We got this thing going in the right direction, guys,” Ron Jaworski said before last night’s Soul victory for the AFL title. “We hit rock bottom. We’re ascending. This league has lasted 29 years. Next year we’ll celebrate our 30th ArenaBowl. You know why? Because of you guys. This is a great game with great coaches and great players and great administrators.
“Now we have screwed this up as owners along the way. But we’re correcting that. We got rid of some of the turds that were running some of the teams around this league. We got rid of those guys. We know what it’s going to take to grow this league, to grow the Arena Football League. We have the players. We have the game. It’s ownership groups. My ownership group. (Rattlers majority owner) Ron Shurts, and all the other owners to operate this league the right way, to operate this league profitably, so the players can make more money, so the owners can make any money. We’re trying. We’re working at it. I just love the game.”
Jaworski talked about being in China this fall with six teams for the first time. That indoor league has no ties to the Arena Football League. But Jaworski looks at is as growing Arena Football.
