Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford (above) requested a trade just over a month after signing a two-year, $36-million contract extension. The reason? Philly traded the No. 8 pick in this weekend’s draft — along with a third and fourth rounder — to the Cleveland Browns for the No. 2 overall pick, presumably to take a quarterback.

On Thursday, the Eagles did just that, drafting former North Dakota State star Carson Wentz. If there wasn’t enough tension simmering around the Birds’ quarterback situation, Wentz didn’t necessarily hesitate to add to the controversy at his introductory press conference.

When asked if he has watched film of Bradford, Wentz responded:

“I’ve seen him play a little bit. Obviously I know that he was a top pick and everything not too many years ago. Obviously I know he was with the Rams and everything and now here. But, you know, I haven’t watched a ton of film on him. I watch a lot of film on guys like Brady and Manning and Rodgers, those type of things.”

‘Is [insert quarterback’s name here] elite?’ has become one of the internet’s favorite and endless sports arguments. Thanks to what could have been an inadvertent jab, we now know how Wentz feels about the man he will be competing with for the starting job in Philly.
