Furkan Korkmaz was ejected from Sunday’s EuroBasket game against Georgia after getting into a physical altercation with Georgia’s Duda Sanadze.
While neither Korkmaz nor Sanadze threw any punches, both had done enough to get ejected by the referee.
And that’s only the start of the trouble for Korkmaz and Turkey, with it being alleged that the player was attacked on his way to the locker room. Beyond that, the team was allegedly attacked by Georgian national police force members after the double-overtime thriller concluded.
“While Furkan Korkmaz was walking in the hallway to the locker rooms with our trainer, Georgia’s players who were not in the active roster attacked him together with the ejected player (Duda Sanadze) and the police,”
