Remember all those stooges who begged the Sixers and GM Sam Hinkie to draft Doug McDermott — Dougie McBuckets to the know-it-alls — last June when they took Joel Embiid instead?
The Chicago Bulls say rookie McDermott will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery Saturday.
McDermott missed his fifth straight game Friday against Portland. Coach Tom Thibodeau had said before the game that the former Creighton scoring star would be re-evaluated.
A timetable for McDermott’s return will be determined after Saturday’s procedure. The No. 11 pick by Denver who was sent to Chicago on draft night was averaging 3.2 points in 17 games.
