ESPN’s Chad Ford is reporting that Ben Simmons was the Sixers’ choice for No. 1 in tonight’s NBA draft a long time ago.
“We decided on lottery night,” one Sixers official told Ford.
Simmons has the talent to become a superstar someday, especially if the Sixers go ahead and try him as the team’s point guard.
“The NBA is becoming more and more positionless,” a Sixers source told Ford. “We’re going to try to take advantage of that with Ben. He can play everywhere, but he’s special when the ball is in his hands. We want him to be special.”
