Sixers center Jahlil Okafor is riding the NBA version of a roller coaster.
Okafor and the Sixers seemed headed for divorce just 24 hours ago. But the Sixers – for now at least – have had a change of heart which led to Okafor, in Philly getting treatments, hopping on a plane to Boston.
“I’m excited about getting back on the floor,” Okafor said.
“The organization has been up front with me, communicating with me that they were looking into trades,” Okafor said. “They didn’t tell me that I was certainly out the door. They just told me it was a possibility.”
And while he’s back with the team, it’s still possible that Okafor could be on the move between now and the Feb. 23 trade deadline. It’s part of the NBA when you’re squarely in the cross hairs of trade talks that, at least for Okafor, are more than just rumors.
“I don’t look at it as a negative,” Okafor said. “I’m still trying to figure out what’s going to happen. Right now, they’re telling me I’m right here.”
