SAVE IT FOR THE SEASON? NOT ME, SAYS PHILLIES’ BROCK STASSI!

By Sam Bush

Brock Stassi is looking like a Phillies keeper!

He smacked a grand slam off left-hander Blaine Hardy in the sixth inning of an 11-6 victory over the Tigers yesterday, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and one walk, and is hitting .563 with a 1.820 OPS this spring.

“Guys always say, ‘Save it for the season,'” Stassi said. “But for me there are no guarantees. It’s life or death out there for me right now. I’m just trying to stay positive and have quality at-bats day in and day out.”

Detroit ace Justin Verlander, in his third spring start, gave up one run on four hits over three innings. His counterpart, young righty Aaron Nola, went two innings in his second start and gave up a pair of runs.
