SANCHEZ LOST BUT LOOKS LIKE PHILS 3RD STARTER: 10 K’S IN 7 1/3!

By Sam Bush

Cristopher Sanchez struck out 10 Braves in 7 1/3 innings, but he also allowed four runs on eight hits and took the loss.

In many ways, it was a great outing for Sanchez, who struck out more hitters than Spencer Strider and also recorded a better 40 percent whiff rate and 39 percent CSW.

His velocity was up across the board, including throwing 1.6 mph harder on both his sinker and slider, which is change-up remained an elite offering.

Unfortunately, Austin Riley got him for a two-run home run in the first inning, and the Braves notched three additional extra base hits that helped drive across the other two runs.

Sanchez will now carry a 3.40 ERA into his next start against these same Braves in Atlanta next week.
