RAUL NETO WILL BE SIXERS BACK-UP AT THE POINT, REPLACING TJ!

By Annie Ross

The Sixers are signing free agent point guard Raul Neto to a one-year, guaranteed deal, The Athletic is reporting.

Neto, 27, was waived by the Utah Jazz on Monday to clear salary-cap space.

He should step into the backup point guard role vacated by T.J. McConnell, who left the Sixers for a two-year deal with the Indiana Pacers.

Neto averaged 5.3 points and 2.5 assists in 12.8 minutes per game for the Jazz last season, appearing in 37 contests (one start).

The Brazilian has career averages of 4.8 points and 1.9 assists in 199 games (54 starts) across four seasons, all with Utah. The Jazz acquired Neto on draft night of 2013 from the Atlanta Hawks, who took him in the second round (47th overall).
