Phils starter Zach Eflin is having minor back issues, and manager Joe Girardi said Eflin is “day to day.”

Eflin is currently scheduled to pitch the Phillies’ third game of the season on April 4 against the Braves at Citizens Bank Park.

“We want to get Ef off the mound as soon as we can,” Girardi told MLB.com after yesterday’s 2-0 victory over the Tigers in Clearwater. “He played catch today, so we felt pretty good about that. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

So how concerned is Girardi about this?

“A little,” he said. “I like [that] there was a ton of progress the last few days and he was able to play catch today. That made me feel pretty good.”
