The Phillies promoted Spencer Howard because Chase Anderson and left-hander Matt Moore both struggled.
Anderson is 2-4 with a 6.96 ERA in eight starts. Moore is 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA in nine appearances (three starts).
Vince Velasquez took Moore’s spot in the rotation last month.
And Howard is going tonight against the Red Sox.
