The Phillies have finally signed Venezuelan outfielder Yhoswar Garcia, according to Baseball America.
Garcia is an 18-year-old centerfielder and is viewed as a strong defender. As is almost always the case, his progress will depend on his bat. He is listed at 6-foot-1, 155 pounds and will need to develop more strength to hit for power.
The international signing period runs from July 2 of one year through June 15 the next. The Phils made 17 signings when the international signing period opened on July 2.
