PHILS’ GRADE A+ OFFSEASON WILL PAY DIVIDENDS IN ’23 RED OCTOBER!

By Sam Bush

The Phillies made the World Series and evidently want to go back in 2023.

So, they signed Trea Turner, Taijuan Walker and Matt Strahm to shore up their infield, starting and relief pitch.

The Athletic’s Jim Bowden has noticed:

Phillies

Grade: A+

Free agents: SS Trea Turner, 11 years/$300 million; RHP Taijuan Walker, 4 years/$72 million; LHP Matt Strahm, 2 years/$15 million.

The Phillies have improved more than any other team in the National League, highlighted by the signing of shortstop Trea Turner, who helps their team speed, power, defense and on-base percentage and gives them another way to score runs.

They did a great job of prying Taijuan Walker away from the Mets to solidify the middle of their rotation.

The acquisition of Matt Strahm gives them a second left-hander in the bullpen after José Alvarado, which they really needed.

The Phillies appear to be largely done this offseason beyond looking to add some middle relievers.
