Says The Athletic:
The organization notified all Phillies and Phillies Florida employees Wednesday afternoon in an email, obtained by The Athletic, that more than 80 front-office positions, on the business side and baseball side, had been eliminated via a buyout package and layoffs.
The email, signed by team president Andy MacPhail and executive vice president Dave Buck, noted the “vast majority” of departures were buyouts. The departing employees, who according to the email had more than 1,100 combined years of service with the Phillies, will be leaving the organization by the end of the year. Those employees had already been notified.
“That has been an extremely difficult process given the many incredible contributions from our staff through the years,” the email read. “We’re proud to say that even through this challenging process, the dedication, loyalty and goodness of our employees shined through, as it always does.”
