PHILS FACE CREAMPUFFS: TIME TO PICK UP STEAM FOR A RED OCTOBER!

By Art Beitchman

The 55-47 Phillies hit the road tonight in Pittsburgh to open up a three game series with the Pirates, who sit at the bottom of the NL Central standings at 45-57.

The next five series against the Bucs, Marlins, Royals, Nats and Twins can determine the Phils’ playoff hopes throughout the rest of this season.

Just two of these next five opponents have a winning record — the Twins and Marlins.

Time for a team picking up steam to solidify that 2023 spot in the postseason.

Bryce Harper is playing solid at 1B, and his hitting has also picked up playing the field for the first this year.

Starting big rallies in the series win over the Orioles gives the Phils momentum the next couple of weeks to keep piling up victories as the stretch run starts for a team looking to play meaningful games in October once again.
