The Phillies stumbled out of the gate with a 1-5 record, which is not all that surprising considering power hitters Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins are out with injuries.
Taking two power-hitting run producers out of any lineup will have a downward effect.
Phillies starting pitching has also been bad — aces Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler have been knocked around badly, making the hitting woes look even worse.
The good news is the Phils come home today for their Citizens Bank Park opener with the whole season in front of them to turn the bad start around quickly.
Beating the Reds in front of the home crowd would be a good start.
