The Phils didn’t make the postseason for the 11th straight year.
But Bryce Harper will be rewarded, as The Athletic’s Jim Bowden writes:
Right field: Bryce Harper, Philadelphia Phillies
WAR: 5.8 OPS+: 183Harper is my choice for MVP in the National League. He’s slashing .313/.434/.621 with 34 home runs and 13 stolen bases in 16 attempts this season.
However, it’s what he did in the second half that stands out for me, as his slash line in his last 67 games is an unimaginable .347/.490/.735, which gives him an OPS of 1.225 during that time with 19 home runs.
He put the team on his back and tried to carry them to the postseason single-handedly.
Although I think the Phillies will fall short, his performance was good enough to win the award.
Who would you take with these odds to win National League MVP?
