PHILS AND MLB COMING BACK WILL LIFT OUR SPIRITS!

By Art Beitchman

After nearly two months of sporting inactivity, Major League Baseball appears to be the first to getting back on the field.

So says the Internet!

Condensing the two leagues into one, the proposal is:

East, Central, West divisions with 10 teams competing with each other in MLB stadiums with no fans at first. Keeping the travel down to a minimum in theory will limit the spread of COVID-19 in America, we hope!

No doubt, every precaution will be utilized to keep these players, managers, coaches, and umpires safe from this killer virus.

Starting back up two weeks of spring training is the plan at home stadiums, and the Phillies will be back at Citizens Bank Park in the middle of June, then start the 2020 shortened season in early July.

That’s still a bold venture with this virus still killing Americans at a terrifying rate, 71,000 plus at last look!

The United States of America and its citizens need an uplift of some kind, and the National Pastime of baseball could be what the Doctor ordered.

MLB is still a huge business and these owners would like to see those billions from TV contracts start to flow again. The fans need it, the USA needs it, just make it happen, but do it safely, whatever that means these days.
