PHILS AND METS ARE LIKE 2 SHIPS PASSING IN THE NIGHT!

By Sam Bush

As the Phils and Mets get ready for their showdown series at the Bank, with the meltdown Metropolitans clinging to a half-game lead in NL East, Philly fans are giddy.

Whereas Mets fans, as epitomized by the New York Post, are hanging by a thread:

There are two gale-force winds in the East now:

The Mets, who can’t get out of their own way, and the Phillies, who simply can’t seem to lose anymore.

When they meet tonight they’ll be separated by a skinny half-game.

The Mets added onto their pile of misery losing again to the woeful Marlins in Miami, 4-2; the Phillies scored four times with two outs in the ninth to take a 7-6 win from the Nats.

Betting Pick: Phillies (-110) to win

This pick is all about momentum.

Dropping three of four in Miami was not a good look for the Mets.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia with their ninth inning rally against Washington are riding a lot of momentum and can take over first place in the division by winning this series.

I like the Phillies in game one of this series.
