WIP’s Howard Eskin reports the Jets were willing to offer the No. 10 overall pick in the draft to the Seahawks in exchange for DK Metcalf, but Seattle “shut it right down.”
“The Jets were going to offer, and Seattle knew it, the No. 10 pick in the first round,” Eskin said.
“I’ve been told by multiple people when somebody calls Seattle about DK Metcalf, (they said) ‘We’re not trading him. We’re not trading him.’ They don’t even take the offer. They just say ‘Nope,’ and they just shut it right down. You can’t even make an offer right now.”
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo’s read on the situation is that it would take an “enormous” package to pry Metcalf out of Seattle. The No. 10 overall pick, of course, originally belonged to the Seahawks but was traded to the Jets for Jamal Adams. Jets GM Joe Douglas is trying everything to land an alpha No. 1 wideout
