PHILLIES’ VELASQUEZ SHOOTING FOR 2ND STRAIGHT SWEEP TODAY

By Annie Ross

The Phillies finished April at 14-10, and they go for a second straight sweep today against the Indians.

Vince Velasquez will take the hill. He got the win to kick off the Phillies’ sweep of Washington in the last series, and he’ll be looking to bring home the sweep this time.

Opposing Velasquez will be Cleveland right-hander Danny Salazar. Few starters have been better than Salazar (2-1, 2.35 ERA) this year, but one is Velasquez (3-1, 1.78 ERA). Each has stumbled once this season — Velasquez two starts ago against the Mets (4 1/3 IP, five runs, two earned) and Salazar last outing (4 2/3 IP, three runs).
