PHILLIES SENDING MORGAN OUT TO SALVAGE ONE GAME IN D. C.

By Jack Ryan

The Phillies will try to salvage one game in Washington this afternoon by sending Adam Morgan to the mound.

Morgan (1-5, 6.70 ERA) has lost five straight starts — including a 7-2 setback against Washington on June 1 after allowing six runs and nine hits, including two home runs.

Joe Ross will be his mound opponent. Ross (5-4, 2.92 ERA) is 2-0 with a microscopic 0.61 ERA in two road starts against the Phillies.

The right-hander allowed one run and three hits over seven innings in Washington’s 5-1 win at Philly on May 31. That success didn’t carry over into his most recent start, as Ross gave up five runs in four innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Tuesday.
