The Phillies have optioned right-hander Nick Pivetta, calling up infielder Phil Gosselin to take his place on the 25-man roster.
Despite winning two of his four starts to begin the season, Pivetta has an 8.35 ERA and 2.127 WHIP over 18 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old is coming off a mini-breakout campaign last year, sporting a 10.9 K/9 rate and a 3.80 FIP over 164 innings while starting 32 games for Philly.
Gosselin has seen action in six Major League seasons, hitting .263 with seven homers and 35 RBIs over 532 big league at-bats.
