It is likely that the Phillies and their fans have seen the last of standout rookie third baseman Maikel Franco for 2015.
The Phillies have placed Franco on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left wrist and recalled outfielder Aaron Altherr from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Through 77 games this year, Franco has hit .277 with 22 doubles, 13 home runs and 48 RBIs.
Franco was initially injured when he was hit by a pitch on his left wrist during last Tuesday’s 13-1 loss to the D-backs.
Altherr has not appeared in the big leagues yet this season, but he went 0-for-5 in two games with the Phillies last year. In 111 Minor League games between Double-A and Triple-A this season, he is hitting .293.
